Where are the Tulsa Police?
February 6, 2010
The Tulsa police union turned down a proposal by the Mayor and 124 police officers were laid off. Tulsans today look around and wonder, “Where is a police officer when I need one?” You may believe this sounds very far-fetched; however, the sad truth is this is the very true.
Many are seeing the changes around Tulsa today as the police are not responding to non-injury vehicle accidents and even crime report calls like larceny or fraud unless the suspect is on location at the time of the call. This announcement was made today, Thursday, February 04, 2010.
Jason Willingham, Tulsa police officer stated, “Almost a third of our uniformed officers were laid off. It was inevitable that we were going to have to revaluate how we were responding to calls and these are the steps we felt like we had to take to maintain our response to the higher priority calls.”
These changes began at 12:00 midnight Wednesday. The changes came to be from suggestions of the dispatchers and a committee of police officers after taking time to study the call load the Tulsa police department receives.
The only way a police officer will arrive to the scene of an auto accident is if a crime is involved or if a motorist seems to be driving while under the influence. The same goes for crimes such as larceny, forgery, or fraud unless the crime is happening at the time of the call and the suspect is still present at the scene. Citizens of Tulsa will still be able to file reports concerning these either through the department online or by telephone, which at that time the reports will be sent to the investigators that handle the crime.
Jason Willingham, explained, “Some of these changes will be temporary and, as the department continues to change, we will re-evaluate the calls again and make the necessary changes at that time.”

Our lib ex-mayor Tay spent money like a drunken sailor moving the city offices, building the BOK center, building a new stadium, and generally wasting money. Our new may cut his staff by four people, cut their wages by 8.5 percent. Dewey Bartlett inheirited a broke city and is dealing with it. Kathy Taylor caused, now we are living with it. The money was wasted and now it is gone, Tulsa is broke, but we will recover.
Ray, I totally agree she was a great example of what happens when there is over spending. Eventually, you will be forced to take drastic actions like the city of Tulsa is having to do now! Tulsa is a great example of what will happen if we let Obama and his cronies continue such outrageous spending.
