As beauty is in the eye of the beholder so is recreation to fun loving individuals. Some people prefer to stroll through the various parks that dot the Tulsa area, while others would enjoy a ride on a roller coaster or an afternoon of golf. When it comes to recreation, you will find that many attractions that draw visitors to Tulsa are also some of the top recreational activities.

Tulsa is home to 140 parks including beautiful well-manicured golf courses, the Tulsa Zoo and Living Museum, 21 swimming pools, 115 playgrounds, 123 tennis courts, 60 picnic shelters, fitness facilities, 25 water playgrounds, 156 sports fields, the Tulsa Garden Center, gymnasiums, wonderful walking, and biking trails. For the residents of Tulsa there are many wonderful recreational opportunities.

If golf is where you feel at home, then you are sure to enjoy the various golf courses around Tulsa. Tulsa has two public golf courses, which are Mohawk Park and Page Belcher. Four other golf courses also call Tulsa home, which are Olde Page, Pecan Valley, Stone Creek, and Woodbine. The public golf courses offer short game practice areas, tournament and meeting facilities, driving ranges, and of course delightful restaurants.

If the entire family is not into golf, you can always visit one of the 14 community centers that you can find throughout Tulsa. Some of the most popular activities at the community centers include classes in the performing arts, painting, and sculpting. You can also enjoy such activities as fitness rooms including such items as rowing machines, weight lifting, and other exercise equipment. Some centers offer summer day camps and camps when schools have breaks.

For other recreational activities, your children will enjoy the River Skate Park, while the rest of the family will enjoy the Clark Theatre, the Heller Theatre or the various nature centers.

Tulsa has something to offer for everyone when it comes to recreation whether you wish to experience the various walking trails in the parks, rollerblading in a special skate park, or watching your favorite sports team.

The great outdoors calls many people to move to the Tulsa area with all the opportunities that abound. One of the best places to get up close and personal to nature is at the River Parks. River Parks offers trails, fishing, boating, kayaking, picnic areas, playgrounds, Skate Park, and even an 18-hole disc golf course. The park does have a curfew set which is normally from 11pm until 5am and the Turkey Mountain curfew is from dusk to dawn.
