More Spending in the 2011 Budget
February 4, 2010
US deficit is facing $3.83 trillion with the new Obama budget plan for 2011. While trying to recover from the recession and get America back to work, the Obama plan seems to be going backwards.
Here is the US Debt Clock and folks this is absolutely staggering to say the least.
Obama announced his 2011 budget, which seems to be like a speeding train out of control. This new budget is going to sink the US to the total amount in arrears of $3.83 trillion. This $3.83 trillion will offer a 5.7% spending increase in 2010 and an 8.7% spending increase in 2011 to top out our deficit at the whopping figure of $3.83 trillion.
Obama’s new budget plan is aimed at creating new jobs so Americans can get back to work. The recession over the past two years has seen 7.2 million jobs lost. In Obama’s message during his unveiling of the budget he stated, “Until America is back at work, my administration will not rest and this recovery will not be finished.”
The idea behind creating new jobs for those that lost their jobs in the recession is a great idea, but we have heard this since prior to the presidential election and in all actuality, more Americans have lost their jobs since the change in Presidents.
The new budget offers Making Work Pay middle-class tax breaks of $400 per individual and $800 per couple through 2011, however, what the power to be’s do not understand is that the working class waits in anticipation every year at tax time to get their refund. This is the only time of the year that many Americans can afford to pay all their bills up that are behind or pay off relatives they borrowed from in order to stay ahead of the bills throughout the year. This small amount of money that may be put back in their pockets will only pay the rent or mortgage for one month in most cases. Stimulating the economy by handing out money or tax credits is not the answer if the money has to be used to pay living costs.
Social Security recipients will receive a $250 payment since they are not going to receive the normal cost of living increase. Most individuals on social security now are trying to live on $1200 or less a month, this small $250 will certainly not do anything for these individuals except maybe allow them to eat a bit better for a week or so or for paying for other living costs.
I may not know the answers but I do know that Americans want to work, the small amount of money provided by unemployment, tax credits, or government aid in any way is not the answer. When it costs, at bare minimum for a family of four to live in the cheapest areas of the US $3000, not counting health insurance, car insurance, or any frills of any kind, you can see that most of America is living below the poverty level. The answer is better paying jobs in the middle class sector, not the promise of creating new jobs, tax credits, or even freezing government spending.
